My school assembly programs encourage critical thinking skills, pro-social behavior, music appreciation, movement and physical activity. I have over ten years of experience teaching history, music, and important life lessons through music, story and movement. I have several fun elementary school assembly programs for grades K-5. Each show is educational, entertaining and interactive! Regular show length is 45 minutes; or can be tailored to your needs (I can play three shows per day). TITLE: "Water Conservation"
THEME: Environmental Conservation
DESCRIPTION & BENEFITS: Folk singer and educator Jack Norton creatively uses music and movement to discuss the earth's water cycle and the importance of water conservation. Accompanying himself on guitar, banjo, ukulele and "musical washboard", Jack's school assembly program is a perfect blend of fun and learning - making this a truly interactive educational experience. Adaptable for grades K-5, Jack works with students to discuss creative ways to conserve water: an essentially important topic for residents in the desert climate of the southwest. TITLE: "Don't Be A Bully"
THEME: Pro-Social Behavior
DESCRIPTION & BENEFITS: This assembly program provides a very important anti-bullying message along with positive examples of character qualities such as respect of self, peers, teachers and parents. In addition, this show focuses on ways to prevent bullying and how to cope with a bully. Learning is engaging and natural as children observe positive behavior from Jack and are encouraged to actively participate with the songs and creative elements in the show. This show features live music, folk instruments, hand puppets, dance and audience participation.

TITLE: "Recyclable Junk Band"
THEME: Recycling & Conservation
DESCRIPTION & BENEFITS: Learning about our environment, the worlds' needs and important issues such as recycling and loving the planet can start at any age. The benefit of this show is a deeper understanding of the importance of recycling, its effects on our local ecosystem (regional animal habitats, water conservation, cleanliness of our parks, etc.) and a basic knowledge of environmental issues as a whole. Developed by innovative educators, this show combines live music performed on recycled instruments such as Jack's "musical washboard" which features a variety of wacky percussion instruments - recycled and ready to make music!

TITLE: "Flags & Festivals"
THEME: Cultural Diversity
DESCRIPTION & BENEFITS: My most popular show featuring storytelling, live music and fun "edutainment" elements all relating to "Flags And Festivals Around the World". This program celebrates cultural diversity by exploring in song, dance and costume various countries around the world. Children will also learn geography of each country "visited", as well as recognize flags and other languages. A fun element to this interactive program is the "Flag Quiz" which makes active participation fun. This show encourages tolerance, acceptance of others, and pride in ones own heritage.
