A road journal &
study in folk music
→read it here←

I devote a large portion of my time to performing in libraries and love working with the childrens and youth services departments of libraries across the country! In addition to entertaining children and incorporating your specific reading program theme, my educational goal is to promote literacy and encourage reading readiness.

This general educational goal and its discrete educational objectives are fully integrated in the songs, lyrics, stories, folk instruments and movements. The level of educational content is varied so as to be meaningful to children throughout the age range of 1 to 10 - enticing younger audience members and reinforcing learning for older ones.

Learning is engaging and natural as children observe positive behavior from my show and are encouraged to actively participate in the show.

A special program just for libraries from September 15-21 only!

Conductor Jack is proud to announce the availability of a special show offered to
libraries in Tennessee in honor of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Program...

Toot! Toot! "All Aboard The Reading Train" is a one-man musical program that features upbeat music for preschoolers, folk instruments, train songs and puppets: all to celebrate the joys of reading. This program was developed by Jack and his wife Kitty (each have a degree in Early Childhood Education) along with their support team of education experts from the Mayo Clinic and the University of Minnesota. So hop on the reading train with Conductor Jack for a foot-stomping, hand-clapping, organic, feel-good hootenanny for preschoolers and their families! A perfect way to celebrate Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Program.

Playing an assortment of folk instruments like the ukulele, guitar, banjo, kazoo, harmonica and his own "magic trumpet", Jack's show has been called "engaging, mesmerizing and captivating" by Parent Magazine. Norton has been described as "Mr. Rogers with a ukulele" by the Arizona Republic and "a near brilliant songwriter" by the Washington Post. Jack also tours with the popular preschool band the Zinghoppers as seen on PBS, NBC and FOX television. Jack's dedication to his craft, one-of-a-kind live performances, and his respect and honor of children, makes him one of today's foremost family-friendly entertainers.
